Hamptons Fall Guide

Pumpkin Picking Hamptons

When most people think of the Hamptons, they think of the beaches, long summer weekends and pool days. Come Labor Day, most shun the area until the following summer, but it has so much to offer during the fall months (September-November), including orchard farms, apple and pumpkin picking, vineyards and more. Plus, many of the top restaurants are still open and you can get a reservation with ease! Use this guide below to plan a relaxing fall weekend out east.

APPLE PICKING

The Milk Pail is a fantastic farm stand on Montauk highway, featuring fresh produce and, you guessed it, tons of fresh apples during the fall. Stop by the farm stand for some fresh hot apple cider and donuts (they also have some awesome gluten free and paleo cookies), then drive down the street to their U-Pick apple orchard, where you get to pick a variety of apples, squashes and pumpkins yourself. For extra credit, take a picture for instagram with your huge bag of apples that you have absolutely no idea to do with! The Milk Pail, Watermill, NY

WINE VINEYARD

You have probably had a glass or two of Wolffer Estate “Summer in a Bottle” rose. Their vineyard is located smack in the middle of the Hamptons and you can stop by for some wine and snacks on any given afternoon. Their winestand is super informal and offers beautiful views of their vineyard. You will probably forget you’re on Long Island, and thats a good thing. They feature live music on Thursday and Friday afternoons through Setepmber. Wolffer Estate Vineyard, Sagaponack, NY

FOOD

The Dock House: casual fish shack on the marina in Sag Harbor. Enjoy a casual lunch of lobster salad and fish seafood, while looking out onto the water and some beautiful yachts! They also sell live lobsters, fish and shellfish for you to take home and cook. My go-to order here is the lobster salad over lettuce, SO good! The Dock House, Sag Harbor, NY

Bostwick’s Chowder House: seafood lovers rejoice, another super fish fish option, with an emphasis on shellfish (raw/baked/broiled/fried), fish fillets and awesome fish tacos. This is a full-service restaurant, but still very casual and perfect for lunch or dinner. Bostwick’s Chowder House, East Hampton, NY

Pierre’s: Many restaurants come and go in the Hamptons, but Pierre’s has been around for almost two decades, serving classic French cuisine in a simple, yet chic, bistro setting. The extensive menu makes it a crowd-pleaser for lunch or dinner. Pierre’s, Bridgehampton, NY

Round Swamp Farm: A farm stand, bakery, prepared foods and fish market all wrapped into one! Round Swamp Farm is the perfect place to stock up for a weekend of relaxing and fun! Head here if you want some awesome prepared vegetables/proteins/grains that taste truly homemade. They are also known for their pies and muffins (not gluten free sadly). While you are there, grab some of their homemade salad dressings, too! Really, grab anything and you’ll be happy. Warning: this place makes Whole Foods look cheap. Round Swamp Farm, Bridgehampton & East Hampton, NY

Elaia’s: Solid Greek food, with a lovely atmosphere that feels a little less scene-y than other dinner spots out East. Enjoy all the classics in Bridgehampton town. Elaia’s Estiatorio, Bridgehampton, NY

STAY:

Mill House Inn: An adorable bed and breakfast, with impeccable attention to detail, including a full coffee and snack bar, with freshly baked cookies in the afternoon. The space feels cozy and is a great option for the cooler months. Mill House Inn, East Hampton, NY

Topping Rose House: In my opinion, the most luxurious hotel option out east. Topping Rose offers elegant accommodations, an on-site Jean-Georges restaurant, pool and gym. Topping Rose House, Bridgehampton, NY
